Development Coordinator

POSITION:  Development Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Development/Administration
REPORTS TO: Development Directors
STARTING SALARY: $45,000, plus commensurate with experience

Mission

The mission of the Latino Policy Forum is to build the power, influence, and leadership of the Latino community through collective action to transform public policies that ensure the well-being of its community and society as a whole. Through advocacy and analysis, the Forum builds a foundation for equity, justice, and economic prosperity for the Latino community. By catalyzing policy change, the Forum works to improve education outcomes, advocate for affordable housing, promote just immigration policies and strengthen community leadership.

Position Summary

The Forum is expanding its development department. The Development Coordinator works with the CEO, Director of Development and Associate Director to leverage increased resources in support of the organization’s Development operations and overall fundraising strategies. This position coordinates and supports activities pertaining to special events, institutional fundraising, individual giving and other key areas that support the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of the Latino Policy Forum’s individual and institutional donor base. This position requires a detail-oriented, highly organized individual. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important.

Responsibilities

Special Events

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and promoting the organization’s special events including Latinos on the Move and other internal or external special events
  • Prepare and manage event planning timeline
  • Staff special events committee(s) as appropriate
  • Works with Director of Development and Associate Director of Development to develop corporate sponsorship strategies and solicit event sponsorships as appropriate
  • Maintains and updates event fundraising reports
  • Ensures receipt and acknowledgement of event donations
  • Supports the Associate Director of Development with all event logistics and planning as needed

Institutional Fundraising/Grants

  • Manages grants calendar and reporting deadlines
  • Works with Associate Director of Development to submit all grant requests and reports as appropriate
  • Assists with scheduling of funder site visits and conversations as needed

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Generate gift acknowledgment letters on a regular and timely basis for individual, corporate and foundation donors
  • Generates donor call lists for Director of Development, CEO, and Board when appropriate
  • Coordinate production of direct mail appeals
  • Generate mailing lists for direct mail appeals, event invitations, save the dates and other external communications
  • Conducts research on potential donors and prospects

Data Management

  • Maintain Salesforce database ensuring accurate and timely entry of gifts pledged and/or received, and record development/solicitation history
  • Generate gift reports on a regular basis for CEO and Director of Development
  • Generates and updates donor lists, reports, etc. as requested
  • Produces donor reports as needed for reconciliation with Finance
  • Ensures that donor records are regularly reviewed and updated 

Communications and Marketing

  • Work closely with communications department to establish the needs and help execute plans for fundraising opportunities, such as Giving Tuesday

General

  • Provides administrative support to development department as needed.
  • Participate in other organizational committees in support of the Forum’s overall work and mission
  • Assists in creation and management of a junior policy board and/or associate board.

Qualifications

  • Experience in non-profit and fundraising required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as marketing, preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and as art of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office and Salesforce

Physical Requirements

Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation. Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Work Environment

Work is regularly performed in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary $45,000, commensurate on experience.
